Wednesday of fun

Today we woke up early, caught an episode of Curious George. We had some Cherrios for breakfast and after walking the dog, made a trip to the gym. After the gym we made a quick stop home to search for Robert's wedding ring, he found it just before leaving town,it was in the waste basket at work, (don't ask me!)

We dropped off our rented pan from Temptations on Main. (Great thrifter place, you can rent any kind of cake pan for $3.00 plus a refundable $10.00 deposit)

After nap we ventured over to Brookside park to play in the wading pool, another gret deal $1.00/wader plus they supply the toys. After the water play we went down the slide a couple of times and headed home for grilled cheese.

Birthday

I have a ton of pictures so click on the link to go through them. We would like to say thanks to all of our friends and family. We are spoiled to have you in our lives. We painted the driveway (1/4 cup cornstarch, 1/4 cup water and several drops of food coloring, slippery when wet), opened presents and had cake and grilled pizza.
Edit... I can't get blogger and Picasa to cooperate, perhaps I can get the link working later. So check back!

Jody and Deeds the horse

We went to watch my dear friend Jody ride her horse Deeds (Diamond Knight) in a Dressage competition on Saturday. We learned much about this sport, Emily loved watching all the horses and we got to even pet Deeds. Jody placed First in three different classes and also took home one second place. We were really proud to watch her ride. Robert and I sat pondering the thought that Emily might want to take up such an expensive sport!

Family Photo

We took this on Sunday, Emily was technically still several hours from being two, but I didn't know how long we would stay in our church clothes. I am 19 weeks in this picture, and Bo is trying to nudge the treats out of my hand.

Alas, it has once again been eon's since I have posted. We have been busy and at the the same time just doing our daily thing. I am finally mostly recovered from my cold, I am hitting the gym and the sidewalks with Emily trying to get my stamina back.

We are celebrating Em's birthday on Sunday. It is hard to believe she is going to be two. She is becoming quite the little lady. It is becoming apparent that she listens to everything we say. Today in Walmart while we were poking around the baby section she was pointing to this and that saying "Ooooooooohhh, that's nice". She picked out some decorations for her party. I don't think she gets the concept of birthday and getting older, but she does enjoy singing Happy Birthday.
We wandered around Ames on Tuesday, I was filling Robert in on RAGBRI, he has never experienced the whole 10,000 bikers hit a town thing. Robert also had a little HS reunion at the Newton Speedway on Sunday, I can't remember who won the race, but he had a good time.

4th of July

We went to see Yankee Doodle Pops on the capital grounds in Des Moines on July 3rd. April joined us and it was absolutely fabulous. Emily seemed to like the music and all the people watching. She wasn't as taken with the fireworks as I thought she would be. She did point out every plane and helicopter that passed by all night long.

Emily enjoying popcorn as we wait for it to get dark.

The next day, the 4th, we went back to Des Moines to attend the Good Guys Car show with Greg and Chelsey. It was fun. Emily was hurting from missing a good 5 hours a sleep from the night before. Did I mention she was awake until we hit I235, which was about 12:00 am. We still deemed it worth it. We saw a lot of awesome cars and Aunt Chelsey volunteered to nap with Em in the camper. My favorite car of the day was actually a bus, this is a 1940's Chevy bus.

The bus seated 7, which was 4 captain chairs and a bench, it had a drop down plasma TV and get this a fountain drink mixer in the back behind the bench. Picture this at a cyclone tailgate! I love the woody sides!
