Emily enjoyed her first taste of cows milk today. We filled her sippy cup up half way and waited for the reaction. She seemed surprised that it was not water, up until now we have only had water in the sippy cup. Nonetheless, she didn't seem to mind the taste, there wasn't much left in the cup! I tried I little as well, I was a little intrigued by the taste as I have been drinking skim milk as long as I can remember.

a new day
Today was my first day as a part-time stay-at-home mom. We celebrated with a trip to see the pediatrician for Emily's one year checkup. She was rather grumpy as I had to interrupt her morning nap to take her to get poked and prodded. She is still growing perfectly. Emily is in the 50 percentile of head, weight and height categories. After three shots we were sent to the lab to get blood drawn to check her iron levels. The technician poked her right-hand middle finger and squeezed out about a 1ml of blood. Emily was fascinated by the band-aid. She has never had a bandage on her finger, or anything that she couldn't pull off.
The next major milestone is trying out cows milk. I plan to pick up some homoginized milk tomorrow.
