Rob and his good buddy Aaron are coming home from New Mexico right now. They could use some prayers. They hit three cows last night in the middle of SW Colorado. I guess it is free range country, at least that is what the Sheriff told them. The second sheriff to arrive, because the first couldn't get there because he hit an elk! The guys are OK, they air bags didn't deploy. They have been taken in by some very hospitable ranchers. They got to spend the night at the ranch, and were treated to a yummy breakfast, and then driven to the nearest shop where the truck was towed. The are searching out a U-haul to bring everything and themselves home.
I am so thankful for the kind people they have encountered. That they were not in Rob's truck, as Rob said if they were in anything that little they would probably be in heaven or in a hospital somewhere. That he was with Aaron, this is the only person Rob considers a better driver than himself. I am devastated for the loss of the truck, but glad it is only "stuff" and that the guys are in one piece.
I hope they are spreading the good news, and that things will continue to go well so they can get home. Let's pray they come home safely, Rob is desperate not to miss Em's dance recital.
This morning Rob sent me a picture of the road in front of him, it was full of sheep!
ETA: I just talked to Rob, they are in route, but had to go back into NM to get all this acomplished as they are in the middle of nowhere. This means they now have to re-drive the same stretch of road that the cow + truck incident happened, ironic? They are hoping to reach Lincoln, NE tonight.

turning the corner
I have written this post several times in my head, hope it comes out the same on paper, not wanting to jinx ourselves.
Dallas has been the worse sleeper for the last 17 months. We can't pinpoint why it started, we were begging for it to end. Two parents walking around zombie like, not because of their sweet baby daughter, she sleeps well, and through the night (although she does bang her head against the crib, but it is rhythmically soothing to listen to so we don't mind).
Rob has suffered the worse, he spent many months sleeping with Dallas on the floor, in his bed, downstairs, in our bed, on our floor, poor guy. He took the brunt of the duty early on, since I was needed more by the little one (read- I have milk). Dallas love language is touch, this boy loves to cuddle, when he touches you, he touches you! He will stroke your face, and arm, while having to have his feet mashed in your back, he needs to be close.
Besides the night terrors, which he only suffered from occasionally he was just a lousy sleeper. We have tried lots of things the last year.
I think we are getting there. I have eliminated a couple things from his diet, we have had a ton more outside time/sunlight lately, and maybe he is just getting older and has hit that spot. Whatever it is we are LOVING IT. He has only woken up and slept on our floor 3x in the last 13 days. This is so huge.
Here's to sleep!

Highlights Magazine
Emily recieved a subscription to Highlights for Christmas from Aunth Cheryl! Each issue comes with a craft and a recipe among other wonderful stories. Emily can't wait to make them.
Here are her renditions...
Forsynthia twigs - we didn't have yellow tissue paper on hand, so we made ours more colorful. Not sure if forsynthia only come in yellow or not?
Fruit dip. She loved this one. 1 cup of vanilla pudding spread on a plate, cover with 1/2 cup of blueberries, raspberries, and kiwi. Arrange cinnamon sugar pita chips around to dip with.
They loved it!
18 months
My little lady is 18 months! She is still the smallest of the Kibbe kids.
Weight 22 lb 11oz, height 30.75" and head circum 46 cm She is growing steadily, still in the 25-30% range.
My other two rugrats at this age
Emily 24 lb 7 oz, height 31.5" and head circum 48 cm
Dallas 27 lb 1 oz, height 33.5" and head circum 49.6 cm
How wonderfully made they all are!
I was able to tell the Doc that she walked (just barely) at her checkup. Not walking by 18 mo is considered delayed. She is still not walking on her feet primarily, but she will oblige you for lots of praise. She gets around pretty well by walking on her knees, bear crawling or crawling. She says tons of words. I understand everything she communicates, although she will also spend lots of time grunting at you as well. Mine, mommy, no, night night and eat are the forerunners. She will say eat and sign it first thing in the morning after you change her diaper, must be hungry. She loves the sandbox and has finally stopped tasting the sand, I still catch her with rocks in her mouth. She likes to have about anything in her mouth, she'll chew on a hair tie until I fish it out.
She is wearing 18 month clothes, and whatever else I can find her. A major shopping trip is needed soon around here for summer stuff.

Cruising to Osky in the truck with daddy
love, love, love this picture. Dallas reading in the bottome bunk, Emily reading in the top bunk!
she plays peek a boo in the tent, only when she says it, it comes out like "pee, boo"
The one big snow
sledding
They all loved it, not sure Dallas really saw what was going on
snow ice cream with sprinkles and a graham cracker
Noelle made it one run and screamed a ton, we let her sit the rest out
little kid snow angels
February Roundup
Valentine's from Daddy
Attempting to get a picture of all three (i might have 40 versions of this)
Homemade egg rolls for the Bud Shoot-out
This sick day = movie day
Skinny Dallas, big red slippers, and popcorn
Wishing this one wasn't blurry
the sand box
I love it, I hate it...
I love that it provides hours of imaginative play
I love that it is outdoors, it provides sunshine and fresh air to my kiddos
I love how much he loves it, some little guy you know might have asked if he could go out to the sand box at 6:15 am the other day
I love that all three kids can play together in the box
I hate that you need a bath everyday
Noelle hates that I have to vacuum her hair after she plays, she also eats sand occasionally, and then poops it!
I hate having to vacuum a small pile of sand off the rocking chair
I hate discovering their pockets or cuffs were full of the stuff too
It's in my bathtub, in my washing machine, in my dryer. I might have undressed and undiapered Noelle in the backyard yesterday...

Guess what
She walked today! Just shy of 18 months... She stood up, I wasn't paying attention, so she was yelling mama, mama, mama, and clapping her hands saying yea, yea, praising herself. We give her lots of encouragement, when she stands. I said walk Noelle, walk. She took four tiny little toddles. Emily, Dallas and I all broke out into the biggest praise Noelle had ever heard. She got up and tried it again after I asked her to walk again, this time two steps, and then again three steps later for Robert. Perhaps she'll start performing since it gets her lots of attention.
Spring Piano Recital
Emily played two songs. The first song Rescue the Kitty was composed by her, "E. R. Kibbe"!
The results from the Practice-a-thon, over $5700. The studio was aiming at $3000, so this was a big blessing. Friendship Ark will get to finish and furnish the entire basement. Emily raised just shy of $100, practicing 95 minutes. She surpassed her goal of $50. Emily also received an award for memorizing over 10 songs for her repertoire. I should have video up on youtube sometime later today. It is taking a while to load.

sore legs....
I'll tell you what wasn't the greatest idea. My workout this morning. Walking weighted lunges, bridges, back extentions, and wall squats. This combined with sitting driving almost 6 hours following this workout, not the brightest!
