Living History Farms

The Saturday before Easter we ventured down to Des Moines to attend the Easter Family celebration at Living History Farm. It was a fun day that included bunny and chick petting, horse rides, meeting the Easter Bunny, and an Egg hunt with prizes. Many more activities were geared towards toddlers and older kiddos. It was was a perfect family outing.

Easter (revisited)

Emily in her Easter Best playing with a full size Doddle that a bunny left for her.
It has been too long since I posted. I started a couple of new projects (basement and painting the guest bedroom) around the house this week that have kept my blogging habit at bay.

Emily is 20 months old.
She has changed a ton this month. She has a word for almost everything she wants. Did I mention she wants everything.

Her feet finally grew. We went shoe shopping and she picked out some pink and white Nikes. I think we could use a second pair for more muddy outside play.
We have been spending a lot of time outside. I raked another 7 bags of leaves off our lawn in the back yard. Emily played catch with Bo while I was working. She won't venture off the sidewalk. Perhaps she is afraid of the grass, maybe it is too soft for her still. Hopefully she gets over that because I plan to spend a bunch of time fixing up things outside this year.

We went to Wild Birds Unlimited on Wed. to pick out a bird feeder. They were very helpful. I told them besides the usual robins, I have seen a cardinal couple and a woodpecker, I have yet to identify. Emily likes to watch the birds and count them (she always counts "two").

Green

Robert did get Emily to wear green today. After work she helped me make green cupcakes and then helped us eat them.

Outside Time

In the last two weeks we have settled into a new routine. Emily and I go to the gym at 4:00 on Monday and Tuesday, and at 8:30 on Wednesday and Friday, we even have gone on Sat. when Dada was working. The weather has also been so nice that we have been finally taking our turn to walk Bo and spend some time outside. Emily has been helping me continue to nurture our new grass in the front yard. We also decorated some bushes with Easter Eggs. Our walks with Bo have been fun. Emily always starts out riding in our backpack, but then decides she wants to walk, she walked home almost three blocks last week.

Grandma Visit

Emily had a visit from Grandma G on Saturday. Grandma spoiled Emily with her favorite activity. Reading

Happy St. Patricks Day

Grandpa Dallas sent a lovely assortment of green adornments for Emily. We wanted to post a picture of her green. Of course this was the one time she doesn't want to pose for a picture, dress up or participate. We did get a picture of BO. Emiliy is wearing a Kiss Me button, notice she is pouting.

Pinto beans

Emily "cooks" with her dried pinto beans while momma cooks dinner. She has a couple of favorite dishes and measuring spoons she uses to help make her meal. Yet another fun activity to help occupy my little helper.

Piggy Bank

Emily loves loading her piggy bank. We often raid daddy's coin jar for filler... don't tell him!

Here is a picture of Emily roaming around with her blanket. This was after her bath when she prefers to run a few laps around the house naked. Emily started coming to the gym with me this week. I hate to put her in childcare for another couple of hours but, it eliminate the excuse not to go to the gym. They have a really neat kids gym . They have tons of toys we don't have at home, and so far she has been the only kiddo there from 4:00-5:00 pm. Today she was a little wiser when I dropped her off. She cried off and on. Tomorrow we are going to try going in the morning. I guess we remember a healthy, active momma makes for a happy healthy family!
