Another first

We went to the ISU Women's BB game last night, thanks to some extra tickets a friend had. We had lots of fun. Dallas hung out in the front carrier all night, it reminded me of the 2006 Football season, as we had taken Em to almost all of those games. Emily also had her first Clone Cone, we shared! It was super yummy. The women won giving Coach Fennelly his 300th career win at ISU.

snug jammies!

Dallas had his two month checkup on Friday, it was two or so weeks late, I think our ped went on vacation! His current stats are:
13 lb 10 oz
24"-we have a 2 footer
head circumference is 41 cm
Wow, he has grown. I am now in the situation that every mother probably faces. I don't want to let go of those first clothes. He basically barely fits into anything 0-3 month. They are all too short in the legs and the torso. I can't believe I am already there, how I will miss them. I wish I could just look forward to the new stuff, many of our friends have blessed us with clothes up until now and beyond so I have lots of neat stuff for him to wear, but still my heart says how could he be so big already. Last night I got all the new sizes ready and washed, they await my folding.

read this Noah's Ark

Emily picked out this book from the Bookmobile last week. We have read many a book about Noah's Ark and also own several. Most books we have read are really tailored towards kids and tell the typical story. This version is really neat. Not only did it win a Caldecott Award, but it does not have narration, the pictures do the talking. The best thing about this version, is that it is the only one I have ever seen that has poop in the ark. Almost every picture has some, and some where Noah is scoopin' it. Also Noah looks really worn out in the middle of the story, I am sure he was totally beat, taking care of everything most have taken a toll. It also had two of every animal getting on the ark, but at least 20 bunnies and mice got off!
I think I am going to pick up a used copy from half.com or amazon, it is keeper

Tagged

I have been tagged "it" from Wendi. So, the deal is post the fourth picture from your fourth folder. My folder was labeled 2003_Iowa_game

It looks to be a picture of my friends Sara, Katie and I in the wee hours of the morning enjoying some tailgating. I am assuming one of our husbands is behind the camera. This makes me miss football season. The rest of the folder was filled with pictures from the game and us celebrating Sara's birthday which almost always falls on the Iowa Game weekend.

I will tag my sister and brother, Destri, and Jen

another missed Holiday

Apparently I need to consult the calendar before leaving the house. We went to the gym this morning and then headed over to the library. I parked, I found a spot where the meter was paid up for almost three hours. We headed across the street, one toddler, one diaper bag, one bag of books and a baby. Emily is running ahead of me because she likes to push the handicap button so the door opens, no dice. Big sign in the door that says Library Closed. tiny print President's Day. Emily clearly did not understand. I was trying to explain, and that we could come back tomorrow. She cried all the way to the car, that girl loves her books.

Father - Daughter Dance

Emily had her first date this evening, and I approved of the nice young man. He bought her a corsage and dressed very nicely, he said he was a safe driver and they would be home by 8:30 at the latest. Emily picked out a new dress for the dance, and I made her some new hair bows. You can also see in the picture her first goose-egg on her forehead. She and another kiddo collided in the tunnel during Sunday School, she took it like a trooper according to the teacher.

I heart Emily

These are daddy's chocolates, but he shared!
Enjoying the stickers Grandma sent in the Valentine

Eating a heart shaped cookie daddy brought home for desert Friday night, it came with a matching heart shaped ring.

Emily really enjoyed celebrating Valentine's Day, I think it helped that sweet stuff and special mail for her was involved.

Happy Valentines

Eleven years ago...today, the most handsome blond guy knocked on my dorm room door. He had flowers, I had curled my hair and had a gray sweater from Express on. Good times! He escorted me downstairs to hop in the Nova for our first date.
He took me to Hickory Park, we waited at least an hour and a half for a table.
We were playing movie trivia while we passed the time. I thought it was all over, as the only quotable lines I knew at the time were from Disney movies (lame, I know). I don't think I got any movies right except Three Amigo's, which I believe is a Disney movie. Shag and Dana met us there and shared our first date. I even have a picture, thanks to Shag, he must of known history was in the making. That picture has been out in our living room in every place we have lived. If only I had a scanner I would share it here, so you could see my super cool sweater of course.

Since we didn't make it to MN this weekend, we are headed off to HP for dinner, with the kiddo's. Maybe we will request our table...
Updated: this is a pic of our dinner at HP

Dear Asian Beetles/Lady Bugs,

I regret to inform you, but it is not Spring. The last several days have been wonderful, full of sunshine and warm temperatures. I expect several more snow days followed by at least two more months of cold weather. I am warning you, please stop waking up from your hibernation and crawling around my leaky old window sills. No good can come from it.

Sincerely,
The head housekeeper

TGIF

Emily is feeling crummy today. She has a low-grade fever, her voice is really hoarse, low and raspy, and there is tons of snot! Dallas is having a great day however. He is really changing. He will sleep from 11:00 to 3:00 am pretty regularly now, he eats then sleeps until about 5:50 am, eats and sleeps until 8:00 or so.
I have noticed that Emily can coax the biggest smiles and giggles out of him. It is so awesome to see her entertain him and have him react so big back at her. She likes to read him books and help him with his paci. He is getting great at holding his head steady, and likes to sit propped in the chair or couch. I have been trying to put him in his bed for most naps, but he throws up so much I am constantly changing and cleaning the mattress pad! Two pads were more than enough for Emily's babyhood!

Mommy and Dallas

I seem to be the photographer a lot lately. Last night I had Robert snap one for me. Dallas was fresh from the tub, squeaky clean.

Thanks!

Joshua-thanks for the pretty toes and fingers, I had a refreshing time at the spa last night. You are a super Godson.

And thanks to my wonderful husband, who gave me some needed time to myself. I even came home to a spotless house, he sure knows my love-language.

Groundhogs day

I have decided I need to keep better track of the days when I am not at work. Not that I celebrate Groundhogs day, but I guess I feel dumbfounded that it didn't dawn on me until 2:40 pm! Today has been fairly productive,
breakfast
gym
walmart (yet another trip for wipes and diapers)
play
lunch
nap for kids while I mopped floor, made chili for dinner, folded and put away three loads of laundry and showered
Currently I need to:
make my meal plan and grocery list and maybe nap too!
