This warms my heart

My husband takes holidays seriously, like really seriously.  He would and has put carved pumpkins in the fridge each day to make them last longer.  Every year I try to get him to carve earlier, but he won't have them go bad!  I love this about him.  This year we (he) has been really busy, working alnost every night.  That is how it goes when you are readying to take off for two weeks, and you have your own buisness.  We still wanted to carve pumpkins, but just couldn't work it into our usual tradition time.  Carve pumpkins and watching the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.  This year we did what we could.  I hollowed out three of them Thursday afternoon.  Friday morning at 7:00 am, Rob had special pumpkin sprinkled donuts waiting and we carved pumpkins before work.  It was a fun way to start the day!

Tonight we will watch the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, and we might even order a pumpkin shaped pizza.

Top L to R, Laura - Noelle - Robert, Bottom L to R, Dallas, Emily
I was pretty impressed with Dallas.  I carved his true to his marker drawing.  I didn't even know he new how to place face features. I have never seen him draw a person before.  Circle eyes, an x for a nose and a smiley mouth.  Emily loved carving hers as well.  I let Noelle eat/test out her pumpkin lid while we worked on hers!

Fire Drills

Emily showed me this picture she drew this morning, she wanted to take it to her BSF teacher.  At first I was taken a back, she described it as follows.  "this is the church on fire, and here is our teacher keeping us safe outside"  They practiced a fire drill a couple weeks back.  I am glad the teacher is keeping them safe, I love that part way more than the church is on fire part!
Her BSF teacher with the children playing outside, ended up on the backside of the paper.

Hard work Tuesday

Now that soccer season is over, out Tuesdays are free.  We don't need to leave the house for anything, this homebody likes a day without errands.

Today we accomplished school, laundry, piano practice, made grahm crackers, and ate a lot of crackers!  I did a couple things I haven't done in the six years we have been here.  I removed 60 or so hosta plants from the backyard.  I also washed a lot of the windows.  I had to open them first, my fault for painting some of them shut.  It amazes me that we got so much done, last week we barely finished school each day.  Helps to have healthy kids, and a happy momma.

Noelle Crawls!

Noelle is crawling.  What finally interested her enough to move, a bottle of carpet cleaner from Craftsmas Carpet Care, perhaps she thought the carpet was just too dirty for her to move.  I am taking this as sign to get my carpets cleaned.  She crawls for the first time at 13 mo 3 weeks!

? for the farmers

I have let my kids play in "Corn pools" a number of times.  How do they keep the rats/mice out of these pools.  Please tell me they are not hidden below, and filled with turds everywhere!  Am I the only one who thinks of these things!

The little two are sick.  Noelle has been pretty restless, and has had a really hard time sleeping the last couple nights.  We have had several campouts in the steamy bathroom to settle croupy coughs.  Dallas was feeling left out so he joined up last night.  Today he was full on sick.  His usual scarey 55 breathes per minute, wheezing, temperture fluctuating from 101 -104.   Off to the Dr. we went to check for pnumonia.  He is clear for now. Poor little guy!  He is such a trooper.  Took Noelle along for the ride, she has an ear infection too.  She has also been getting her 8th tooth.  She has apparently saved all the drooling for this tooth, she is soaked within minutes, she has never really drooled before.
So thankful Emily is such a healthy girl.

Fall at Center Grove Orchard

She did go, I just wore her the whole time.  Eating her apple for lunch
 Hayride
He kept pointing out that the tractor doors were open, while we were moving
 Tractor driving
It was hard to tear him away, he actually came back twice, once without asking!
Pumping water to scoot the duck across
 Jumping into the corn pit/pool
Dallas was a little unsure, he walked around alot with a big grin
We went on a field trip with Emily's K-1 class to Center Grove Orchard .  We haven't been since Emily was 1.5/2 maybe?  They sure have a lot of buildings and tons to do, I think they call that agri-tourism?  It was a fun way to spend our morning.  Noelle rode in the backpack all day and was very pleased about it!  Everyone should go check it out, it is a little spendy, I am glad we got in with the class/tour price.  We came home with two coupons for $4/off if anyone wants them.  Sunday we are headed to Deal's Orchard, they are having Fall Festival this weekend, and Rob will be in KC watching some NASCAR.  I even know some Deal's so I am excited to head up to Jefferson.

Noelle's Birthday

I have been trying for weeks to upload these photo's for weeks.  Blogger and I have not been friends.  Plus I don't have a picture of the sweet daisy's, or cupcakes.  Does anyone have a picture of the table decorated?   On Noelle's birthday we had whole grain blueberry muffins and scrambled eggs with a candle.  Rob took the day off to hang out with her, I love that he takes the kids birthday's off.
Her cupcake was really cute, I used chocolate ganache for frosting, while tastey, it was a little harder than I thought so it didn't make a really good first cupcake (aka, she didn't get all that messy!)
