The haps around these parts:

Emily is away at camp, let me tell you that I miss that girl.  She is the peacekeeper, the mender, the smoother-over, the "i will give you that so you will be happy" sister.  The other two have been like oil and water the last three days.

Dallas is a tad whiney, he was sick over the weekend and low on sleep.  And Noelle is stubborn, loud, and cries at the drop of the hat anything.

We will pick Emily up today, I can't wait to hear about her time.  I saw a picture of her yesterday climbing a rock wall in full repelling gear.  I will have to see about how to get that picture up on the blog.

We have had RAIN.  Ames is flooding but has not been as destructive as past years.  The break in the weather for the back half of this week will allow everything to calm down.  South 16th was the only road closed yesterday.  The parks on 13th street and along University are flooded as well as one of the kids favorite parks near ISU.  These are the usual spots.  Again it is so great to live on the high side of town.  Our sump pump doesn't even kick on, thankful to not have to worry about water in the basement.  The yard is a bit spongey, but I think everyone in Iowa is suffereing from that.  Bonus is that I have not watered the garden once this year - also have weird fungi and mushrooms growing in all sorts of spots in the yard, garden and mulched areas.

Robert is off in New Mexico returning the Chevelle to Iowa.  Time to make room in the garage!  If all goes well on the haul back we will be at Good Guys on Friday in the car.  Robert said a cake would be appropriate to celebrate.  I wonder what kind of cake cars like to eat.  I don't care for cake so I might have to think up some pie or bar to make.

I cleaned a whole bunch yesterday.  I am still pondering what to do with all the crafty stuff and art things the kids have made.  I really don't like saving all of that stuff.  But I don't know how to organize it to save for 18 years and then give it back to them.  We have a surprising amount of stuff already considering they don't go to public school, I am assuming that public school does more crafts than I do around here.

I have one or two more things to buy for next years school.  I still need to pack up this years and get some organization going.  Actually I have a little busy work getting a new phonics program I bought sorted out.  I think it will involve some cutting, pasting/laminating and making some folder games.  Anyone want to come over to help?  I will provide drinks!
